We are aware that there are cheaters who have targeted other player by making them spot perpetually. This has been around for quite a while and we have seen it happen to streamers before. But I’ll bet you knew that already
We were aware of this well before your report and are investigating it fully. Once we have more we will let you know.
Preliminary report:
Early on March 12, Volt reported to fellow Administrators and Directors that there was an incident during a recent livestream on Twitch, during which players were spotted from afar and seemingly automatically.
We have obtained and reviewed the video clip in question, RCON logs, as well as discussed with several different sources.
What we know so far is that this is the work of a hack developed to work by sending spots to another player. We have been able to verify this through various sources. While we are not willing to publicly name the responsible party, we DO have a working theory, and are still investigating. A player is required to be nearby for the hack to work. We are thoroughly checking the players online during that period of time. We have some suspects already.
Initially, it was reported internally as an potentially targeted attack against BF4DB staff, however it does not appear that is the case, and may simply be due to the fact that Volt was live streaming and is coincidently BF4DB staff.
We are aware of at least one other incident involving this type of hack.
This case is still being investigated.
